Mother’s Day Gift Basket Ideas
The magical main concept with this basket is to create a moment for your mom.
Imagine you are giving your mom 60 minutes of a day just for her to enjoy. Those 60 minutes can be as unique as each of our moms but today I’m sharing an idea that’ll work for many and can get you started in the right direction.
Today we are working on a “Mom Book Break Basket”.
I imagine my mom finally taking some time for herself on a sunny afternoon and finding everything she needs to enjoy a little escape in her basket.
If that sounds like the type of moment you want to give your mom, this is the perfect basket idea for her! You can also use my gift basket recipe to create a custom “Mom Break” basket for your mom.
Gift Basket Recipe: an activity + a refreshment + snack or treat + small gift + something for the senses.
1. Gift Basket
Where to Find a Gift Basket: I found this one at World Market. They have a great selection of baskets that include the basket, the fill, the clear bag and a tag! You can of course also find baskets at most other major retailers but World Market has the best selection of complete basket kits.
I also recommend World Market for unique gifts, trinkets and snacks.
2. Activity: Book for Mom
There are so many ways you can approach this but I recommend a light hearted and inspiring book that feels like a paper version of a good Hallmark movie. If your mom loves a specific book genre, you can either stick with something along those lines or introduce her to something new.
I’m including a copy of, Lucy Checks In by Dee Ernst.
3. Refreshment: Cute Cup and a Pretty Beverage
When you’re on a midday escape, you need a cute cup to savor a refreshing drink. And guess what? You don’t have to choose an alcoholic beverage to get a beautiful bottle worth gifting. You can find cute drink bottles everywhere! I recommend trying Trader Joe’s, World Market, Whole Foods, and even the grocery store!
4. Small Gift: Butterfly Hair Clips
It feels so good to get your hair out of your face as you curl up with a book but we’re upgrading mom’s tired old hair tie with a set of beautiful butterfly hair clips since these are giving main character energy.
Here are few pretty options from Amazon: butterfly & flower set, 2 butterfly set, and plastic peony clip
5. For the Senses: Perfume for Mom
A scent can easily unlock a memory or create a new one, so I decided to give my mom a delicate perfume that she can associate with relaxing in the Springtime sun.
The scent also perfectly matched the mood I was setting for her basket. It was sweet and light floral.
Other ideas for this category include: a candle, fragrant flowers, soft blanket, scented lotion (I love the way Hempz lotion smells!), aromatherapy oils.
6. Snack or Treat: Honey + Fresh Fruit
I’ll be honest, this category should be tailored to your specific mom and the moment you’re creating.
While my mom loves the occasional treat, she also prefers whole foods and natural ingredients so a delicious honeycomb paired with fresh fruit (to be added the day of) is the perfect snack for her and also connects to the relaxing Spring reading moment we’re creating.
